Recently, a group of us have ‘covenanted’ as The Letter N Challenge, to band together boldly in our declaration of support for Iraqi Christians against the persecution done by Isis. This had led to amazing amounts of encouragement as we seek to raise awareness through tattooing the Arabic letter “N” (which is the symbol of persecution being used against Iraqi Christians by Islamic extremists) and raising funds for various relief organizations in the region.
Here is a declaration of our “warfare” at The Resisteance, which you can find and “LIKE” on Facebook! Please:
“In light of the recent persecution Christians are enduring at the hands of Islamic extremism in the Middle East, many of us have ‘covenanted’ to be “The Resistance”.
“The Resistance” is an effort to raise awareness of the persecuted Christians at the hands of Islamic extremism, and to combat this through prayerful support and the “knowledge of God” through Jesus Christ.
It was Charles Spurgeon, the famous “Prince of Preachers”, who summed up our warfare and resistance:
“We wrestle not with flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12)”. Christian men are not at war with any man (or woman) that walks the earth. We are at war with infidelity, but the persons of infidels we love and pray for; we are at warfare with any heresy, but we have no enmity against against heretics; we are opposed to, and cry war to the knife with everything that opposes God and His truth; but towards every man we would still endeavor to carry out the holy maxim, “Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you”. The Christian soldier has not gun or sword, for he fights not with men. It is with “spiritual wickedness in high places” that he fights, and with other principalities and powers than with those that sit on thrones and hold scepters in their hands”.
We are with the lies that are present in this world. As the Apostle Paul accounts for us in 2 Corinthians chapter 10, “We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,…”. The lies of false religion, false philosophy, and the myth of ‘redemptive violence, surely fall into the “speculations and every lofty thing” category.
It is the lack of and distortion of “the true knowledge of God” that leads to the violence, death, and despair that is characteristic of “this world”.
We, the Christians, covenanting to be “The Resistance”, endeavor to be ‘in the world, not of the world’, set apart to demolish the strongholds and lies that are set up and keep people from experiencing the knowledge, power, and love of God. We set out to boldly “teach the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15)”.
Let us continue in true Spiritual warfare on behalf of our brothers and sisters suffering at the hand of false religion and Islamic extremists.
Blessings in and through Jesus Christ,
